Where is Joe Real? Well Laaz it is coming, maybe it is this time of the year.
After the greening outbreak citrus seems to downhill. The guys in Texas are also worried to buy tree's.
Laaz are you growing mainly citrus or do you grow other subtropicals. You sure live in a nice part of the country. I allways like that neck of the woods, perfect for growing a lot of good stuff. Bob.

yeah, with all the restrictions and quarantines, it's hard to get new varieties. stuck with the boring stuff that the nurseries carry year after year.

Galka, In my pinion he best "lemon" to eat out of hand is the NZ Lemonade fruit.  If you don't have a NZ Lemonade tree you need to get one. An extremely clean sharp clear fresh and smooth taste. If you like lemonade, you will will like this fruit.

Millet, I have one small seedling of NZ Lemonade growing, I hope it will survive. And, yes, I like lemonade.  :)

A sweeter meyer lemon essemtially.  When you cut it it smells like a kumquat but tastes like a milder lemon with the sourness of a kumquat.  Never heard much good about them but found one and prefer them to meyers.

Meyer lemons are horrible. I cut my two trees down & fed them to the chipper.

Meyer contains less vitamin C than any other lemon. However, meyers are very fruitful. Once i got 70 kg from a single tree. Others like Feminelo lunario bear all the time, but i never find more than 20 fruits hanging on.

Femminello lunario has a distinct advantage for those living in cold areas, tough. When in 2011 we had a cold snap and all my lemons got defoliate, I haven't had a single fruit on any other lemon during the following winter, except for femminello lunario: this plant, as soon as re-leafed, resumed blooming, and even if its fruiting was sparse (which i also have found it is the case, at least on my pot bound plants) it never missed a single year.

I have to go with Laaz on Meyer lemons.  I  prefer real lemons. I cut down my Meyer lemon tree and  added it to the compost pile.  I replaced the Meyer with a St. Therese of Lisieux  Lemon.  ST of L lemons produce consistent crops.

Millet, I agree with you and Laaz. Meyer lemon tastes horrible for me, it has a touch of artificial taste. I don't like it.
I have one in ground Meyer tree but I will re-graft it with other lemon variety, 8A or Genoa.
In any case, Meyer is a very productive and nice tree.

It was my understanding that Meyer lemons are the best kinds to grow, now we have New Zealand lemonade, Femmenello lunario, St therese of lisieux. I got to get sionwood of one of these three. Seeds are out of the question( i am too old, i can wait that long) Help? Bob
I have nothing to compare with i though Meyers are pretty good, have two tree's that are producing.I also have a dozen F D seedlings.

Any recommendations for  a lemon variety that has a main harvest during the late spring or summer?

I'm also tempted to grow one of these better ones being talked about here. I see fourwindsgrowers list Santa Teresa and New Zealand lemonade but they're not in stock right now.
