Tropical Fruit Discussion / Tlanoxtle -Lycianthes moziniana
« on: April 12, 2021, 03:59:34 PM »
Hi all! - is anyone growing Tlanoxtle (Lycianthes moziniana)? I have 8 of em in pots and they have barely put out more than two leaves for over a year now. The roots appear strong and if any die off they seem to shoot back but they stall at Less the.2cm. Anyone with any experience in this department?

Hello,

Does anyone have any Che plants for sale in Australia? Preferably the seedless variety but given how rare this tree appears to be on this continent I'm interested in anything that's out there!

Cheers,

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Marang in subtropics
« on: April 07, 2020, 09:21:42 PM »
Hi All,

I recently bought a marang fruit at the market.  As I was snacking I spit my seeds throughout the yard and didn't think anything of it.  But several weeks later I have marang seedlings sprouting from my dirt pile in the shade.  I was under the impression these trees would only survive in the true tropics.  We are in Autumn outside Brisbane, Australia and it is about 17C at nighttime.   Will these seedlings die come winter?  The lowest temperature in my area is 0C and that only really happens once a year if ever.  Average winter night time temperature more hangs around 10C.

Cheers,
Christian

Hello all,

Anyone with any experience with lamb hass know the best B-variety to plant along side it?  I hear they are self fertile but I have the space for another tree so why the heck not?
Shepherd is good companion for hass but I can't seem to find much information on lamb hass partner trees.

Cheers

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Sub-Tropical Espalier Candidates
« on: January 19, 2020, 05:25:47 PM »
Hello All,

I'm looking for some advice on potential espalier candidates for the sub-tropics.  There is loads of history and experience with this style of pruning/growing in temperate climates but not much for subtropics/tropics.  Either container or ground based espalier experience for these types of plants would be appreciated!

I think some eugenias such as grumichama or pitanga would go well .  Possibly also dwarf jaboticabas, dwarf annonas, etc.

Known sub-tropical espaliers:
Mango
Avocado
Citrus varieties
Feijoa
Cherry & Strawberry Guavas

Thoughts on others?

Cheers
