Muntingia calabura is getting yellow leaves - cause?

I have a muntingia calabura (strawberry tree / panama berry / jamaican cherry) purchased and planted a few weeks ago which is perhaps 5' tall. Anyway recently some of its leaves have  been turning yellow and falling off. We did have a heat wave with fairly high winds recently. Perhaps it's not getting enough water? Has anyone experienced this? I watered it a bit more but don't want to risk overwatering.

I think it's perfectly normal, given the recent heat wave and high wind. From my experience, muntingias love water, the leaves are pretty thin so evaporation is high. Mine loves as much water as I can give it.

Thanks for your feedback. I'll try to keep the soil relatively moist and see how it fares. It has many buds and its water requirements will only increase as more flowers bloom.
