They are guaranteed to grow from cuttings strait into the soil you dont have to
wait for roots

Just remember 10 ft in order to get flowers, and hand pollinate

I don’t know about sandy loam. Vanilla wants lots of organic material. I don’t think it needs any sand at all.

I've found buried stems of Vanilla tend to rot but just placed on a damp medium and kept moist they readily put out roots. Tops of my old plants often get broken off by falling branches or fronds. The bits on the ground just put out roots and then go searching for something to climb. The old 'beheaded' vines put out a new shoot and head back up. I've probably got 30 or more plants in the garden now from that process. They have more roots on the tree trunks than in the ground. Vanilla is very easy with the right warmth and humidity, some people over think it and end up killing them with kindness.

As stated above dont let it grow over 10 feet. My vines are on a strawberry guava trellis I made. They can be stimulated to flower by taking the vines and bringing them down to hang.
Biodiversity is key.

chupa king, do you mean that you were able to get the vanilla to flower out of season with that technique?
What time of year does vanilla flower in Hawaii?

This is how we loop vanilla vines here.

Yes. Along with foliar feeding you can induce them. Vines are flowering right now. Mine typically bloom in January.
