You should order Sugarloaf mango from ZHPP along with Carla, Phoenix, and Orange Essence and Sherbet.  Also the new Butterscotch sapodilla.  All the best with your new nursery!

Anyone / everyone brave enough to call himself/ his operation a food forest has my respect.  Please post here often as you progress into the food forest. In other words--- Represent!

Food forest.  That was my goal.  Or at least fruit park.  Most of our forum members have been bitten by the same bug, safe to say.  It would be a much better (healthier?) world if everyone was on board.  Kinder world, sharing fruit.  Sod growers and lawn services would take a hit!

Less Oak, Pine, Grass and more Avocado, Mango, Jaboticaba, Barbados Cherry, Bananas, Suriname Cherry, Starfruit, etc would be ideal. Would definitely make the landscape more beautiful.

I love oak and pine in nature and in the general landscape (cypress and native palms, too).  They're beautiful and can't be beat.  But homeowners should definitely plant more fruit trees in their yards.

I welcome Mike's new FoodForest enterprise and wish him success.  He has the potential to provide a useful local resource, especially to us who live in Hillsboorough and Pinellas counties!

About three years ago I started building myself a Fruit Forest at my home.   I wish I'd started sooner but hey, better late than never.  The impetus for starting it was to eventually be able to circumvent paying Publix, etc. exorbitant prices for fresh fruit that is cosmetically beautiful but which proves to be less than flavorful far too frequently.

I'm starting to get a few things now to bear fruit but it's still early as most of them are still young.  I've gotten a couple nice racks of bananas so far and a canistel which was interesting for a first ever tasting.

I have a few more things I'd like to install in my yard before I run out of space and I'm kinda counting on places like Mike's new enterprise to help me fill in the gaps.

I think we'd be wise to support such an effort.

Cheers!

This is wonderful! Like Epicatt2, I too have been planting fruit trees and other edibles but still have some gaps to fill in my yard. Almost all of my plants have come from trips to nurseries from Palm Beach to Homestead. Looking forward to having a nursery that is local.

Currently looking for a 3 gal Cac/Coc mango. Let me know if you have one in stock. Thanks.
