Amazing growing! Good job. I hope that fruit hangs in there.
Rollinia are one of my favorite fruits. I just wish mine were more prolific. I could eat them every day.
First pic is from August 01, 2010, when the tree was in a 5 gal I believe.
Also, is one pic of the tree on October 28, 2010, after stepping up into a larger white container..around 15 gal maybe less.
Here are a few, more recent pics of the same tree from 2012...flowering like mad!! 25 gal...ready for action! and fruits again like last year!
Had fruits to eat in mid 2011, only 3 set, and 2 made it...bird got one...amazing fruits!! tasty as can be...harvested over 8moths after flowering though! They stayed on tree in greenhouse for cold winter we had in 2010...but fruit was fine...ripening around July of 2011...
Seeds will be distributed, if a few of you may want seed. Hope to have lots of seed to share!
Those are incredible looking trees!! How would you characterize the taste of Ross Sapote? I do not like Canistel or Lucuma so if it is similiar I wouldn't be interested.

Adam, great job and great pictures! You're my idol
I talked to a company rep last week and I ordered a gallon of Turf and Garden Pro and of MegaGreen. What can you tell me about MegaGreen? How often do you apply these products?

Amazing that the rollinia is so cold tolerant as they come right from the heart of the Amazon.
What's the white powder on your leaves?

Senior member lol!
I'm jealous! Now I wish I was over 50yrs old! Discount at perkins, on auto insurance, and better ranking on forum!!!
LOL
Ah, duuhhhh, i think it has to do with number of posts, not age. Anyway if you were over 50 you wouldn't have to cut your finger off to eat a rollinia because your trees would all be big and bearing! HAHA
Oscar
Nice job, rollinia seems much more cold tolerant than soursop in my experience too.

Hi,
Let me see. Luc's Garcinia/Rhedia exudes a yellowish sap. Does that qualify as gamboge???
Here's the first of my "Amazon Giant" Rollinias that I have picked this year. I intended to harvest it and let it get fully yellow but it was way up in the canopy (20feet) and it fell off off of my "clip & hold" picker then fell to the ground. Since it was not fully ripe, the fruit survived the impact. It weighed one kilo (2.2lbs). Since this one ripened in the winter, I was worried the flavor would be bland, but it was pretty decent. Tastes like lemon custard pie.
Hey everybody,
So my Dad, who recently bought a house in St. Petersburg, FL, (zone 10a?), is having a birthday later this month. Good news:
1) he loves fruits (when I was visiting last I helped him plant a pickering mango and a murcot tangerine). Now he's stoked and is talking about ripping out some scraggly oaks to make room for more mangoes, citrus, etc. He grew up in South Florida and had a few huge Haden trees that he loved.
2) he lives close enough to Jene's Tropicals (www.tropicalfruit.com) that I could order something from them for delivery.
So here's my question, what would y'all recommend that would be dwarf/semi dwarf and would either be a mango or something more exotic. Must be available from Jene's or someplace similar nearby, and must be tasty!
He already has two big avocados, a great old white grapefruit, a pickering mango, a murcott tangerine, and another orange tree.
