Here’s another update of my Yangmei. The weather is getting warmer and we are also getting more sunlight hours and I’m not sure if it’s the increased light, warmer temps, or a combination of both that is causing my blooms to convert to vegetative growth.

If it’s the heat that is causing the blooms to turn vegetative, the growers in warmer climates such as those growing in Hawaii or Southern Florida will have to ensure they get sufficient cold stimulus to get blooms and fruit set. Alternatively, they can look for varieties that may not require as much cold stimulus to trigger blooms.

My male tree still has blooms on it but there are very few male blooms left. The good news is that it appears this male produces enough blooms/pollen to pollinate the earlier and later blooming varieties. In April, there are very few blooms on my male and female plants, everything is definitely winding down in terms of blooms.

Here’s my Ann Hai on Californica rootstock. It is growing in a large pot and it set a ton of fruit. I stopped counting after 200. So far, I have not noticed any fruit drop.

Lots of flowers here too. I love the red.  Can’t remember if male or female (I think female) but I’m still looking for healthy vegetative growth over fruit.  Maybe next year I’ll graft on some scions of opposite sex but it’s fun to have it healthy and thriving!

You gotta juice it! It’s a game changer! My buddy and I split the cost and bought a manual one on eBay and it’s works great. FREE YANGMEI SCIONS. I had two suckers coming from the rootstock of my grafted Biqi so I decided to cut one so they don’t take too much energy from the graft. I cut the branch yesterday and would like to mail it today or tomorrow so it’s fresh. I don’t know if this sucker/scion(s) will turn out to be male or female as I haven’t had the test to determine that yet (if anyone needs to test their trees please let me know).
You would just need to pay shipping for small flat rate box which is $10.50

This Chandler just fell off into my hands with the slightest touch, hopefully it’s ready, mostly yellow with just a splash of light green on one side. Over 2lbs. Looking forward to trying it.

Hi, we just pressed some San Diego Yellow cane from the garden and it’s really good, we cut it with citrus so the color doesn’t turn brown. It’s a very vigorous grower. Right now would be a good time to plant cuttings, our cane has huge buds which would be perfect to put into the ground right now, once it warms up they’ll start to shoot up. You can just lay pieces flat on the ground with buds facing up, cover with a little dirt and they’ll pop this spring. Send me a PM if you’d like some cuttings, maybe we can work out a trade or something. Cheers

After talking with a couple trustworthy sources, this one that you’re offering should not be referred to as burkartiana but unicamp instead.

You can’t just go around re-naming stuff dude...Who are your trustworthy sources? I assume they are more trustworthy than Helton Josue? He’s the one who identified the seedling I’m selling. Anyways the fruit from the seedling I’m selling has actually been tasted by Hapa Joe at Heltons place and he’s confirmed the taste is excellent, he described it as slightly tart but juicy.”

Also Anderson Tropicals has the same picture of the fruit being posted and it’s listed as Eugenia Burkartiana (Pitanga Acerola) He was selling seeds for $25 each and he’s sold out, so I guess a lot of people have the wrong thing, according to you. Isn’t Anderson Tropicals a trusted source? I guess you need to call him out too.

These are the ORANGE variety of COTRG. Approx 6”. They are much better tasting than the standard red variety. $15/each plus shipping or take both for $28 + shipping.
