Ultra Rare Eugenia Cisplatensis seedlings for sale. $17 per seedling, or buy 2 for $30, plus shipping.

This fruit is said to be very tasty, the new foliage is beautiful, and a very high percentage of the flowers will turn into fruit, so the fruit set is very good on this one.

Here’s a video describing the fruit and the tree. In the video the commentator says the fruit is very tasty, fruit set is high, and the new foliage is gorgeous.

It should also be noted this species is at risk of going extinct due to habitat loss.

Here’s a picture of my Sumo grafted onto our “Velma” Grapefruit tree that has a dwarf rootstock, however the tree is over 30 years old. This graft is less than a year old and the fruit is just about ready to eat.

Sumo Orange

On the contrary, here’s a 3 year old blood orange graft that hasn’t flowered yet, it’s grafted onto a dwarf lemon tree.

I’m sure a lot of factors contribute to the fast/slow growth of grafts, but you would think it would be relatively the same since it’s all citrus. Also my trees are only 10ft apart so they get about the same treatment.

What other citrus grafts have fruited quickly for you?

Fruiting (with fruit on it now) Ice Cream Bean Tree (Inga) in large 15 gallon pot for sale. Also in the same pot a soon to be fruiting Surinam Cherry bush. Price for the combo is $175, local pick up only.

This is a common type of Inga. Height is about 5ft tall from top of pot. The tree is currently fruiting and has several pods on it (please see pics below)

There is also a Surinam Cherry bush in the pot that should fruit soon. I believe the fruit was black, but because it’s a seedling there’s a chance it could revert back to red, if it does turn out to be red, I have an original fruiting Zill’s Dark tree I will give you cuttings of for free, the fruit is incredible. I can also throw a couple small cuttings of the Zill’s in for free at pick up.

Hello fellow Orange County, Ca Fruit Growers!

I’d like to start trading my homegrown fruit with other local members in exchange for their homegrown fruit. I think it would be a great way for people to try lots of different fruit without waiting forever to try it from their own garden. If you try some fruit you don’t like, and you’re growing it, you wouldn’t have to waste time growing it anymore. If anyone wants to barter please let me know. Only interested in trading with members who have been on the forum for one year minimum.

Currently fruiting now; Red Jaboticaba that are juicy and sweet, Arabica Coffee Beans, and Sugar Cane. In the near future we will be harvesting pineapple guava, dragon fruit, Citrus, Macadamia Nuts, Alano Sapodilla, Cherimoya, and more.

Tropical Vegetables and Other Edibles / Ube in Southern California

Ever since trying Ube ice cream I’ve been on a quest to grow the vine and make my own ice cream...I planted a vine in the spring of last year, 2022. It grew nicely and then died back when it stared getting cold, I believe in December some time. The vine is now completely dead (above ground at least) and I was thinking of digging it up to see if there’s any Ube down there, however, I think I’ll kill it because I’d have to dig up the roots, I think? Does anyone know when to harvest Ube in So Cal? And if you can keep the vine alive after harvest? Thanks

Looking to trade for Red Baron Peach scions, I’ve got lots of different things to trade. Please send me a PM. Thanks

20
I grafted some Paw Paw scions onto my Cherimoya tree this year and initially had some success with about 6 out of 7 taking and starting to push. Since the initial push only one or two are still doing good, the other ones have either died or are starting to shrivel up. Does anyone have any long term success grafting Paw Paw onto Cherimoya? Here’s a picture taken today of the best one still doing good

21
I have a dwarf Meyer lemon tree I’ve been grafting mandarins and oranges onto the last couple years. They are all growing well but have not fruited yet as grafts are still young.

So, will grafting oranges/mandarins onto lemon rootstock make the fruit have sour notes? I read somewhere that it could but was hoping someone on here has personal experience. Thanks
