A few years ago I received seeds from Mike T of an Australian Caimito selection from an Australian government agricultural center called DPI , I approach grafted to the stump of a regular Caimito that I cut down to take advantage of the adult roots in order to provide more vigor to the DPI Gold seedling ,well this year flowered for first time and to my surprise hold many fruits , in the picture of Mike they have a Copper/pink color and relatively large size , I noticed this morning a couple have change color from regular green into a kind of different green but the difference was noticeable , I touch one and was very soft so I decided to give it a try even if hasn't the gold /copper color in the Mike T pictures , I opened with a knife and share half with my wife who minutes before was getting ready to snack on a carrots cake , upon opening the fruit I noticed very few látex who look very watery and diluted ,I touched with myself lips and didn't noticed the regular sticky lips , when trying the flesh I was really surprised of how sweet it was ! I had tried several different Caimito before but they were just OK with a mild flavor , this DPI Gold was super soft flesh ,not firm at all kinds of fluffy and juicy , the flavor was of diluted condensated milk with honey ,I found a late notes of sweet Soursop , this fruit had 0% acidity , it was a real surprise to me ,this sweetness in Caimito , the skin is very soft and tin after eating the fruit , I'm going to wait more days before I cut another to see if the color change like the ones Mike post here in the forum , I'm grateful with Mike T for sharing the seeds of this delicious fruit with me .as a side note my wife after eating one Caimito decided to decline the carrot cake for later 🤣🤣
