After my second failed year of trying to yield uninfected venus mangos, I've decided I'm going to unfortunately replace the tree. I would graft a different variety but I do not know how. Anyways, and ideas on a late season variety that is also disease resistant? Also, can't be a giant, my tree is currently 12 foot tall and I plan to replace it with a variety I can maintain at that size. Thank you!

Here's an update,

One dropped and the other just created a large crack. The higher mangos do not seem to have any issues. Its just wierd. Whats the name of the place down south. I don't mind making a trip to protect my mangos.Ill have to reach out to Mike. He might have some insight.

Just for the heck of it, I'd sprinkle pelletized gypsum under the tree.  Maybe the extra calcium would help, and it certainly wouldn't hurt.

I'll have to try that, what are good products I could use and where?

The fruit will be filled in, the nose end would be wider and less skinny. There is also a color change for each variety. Where I live, I get fewer heat units so it takes a long time for my mangos to ripen. I also try to maximize Brix so I leave the fruit on the tree for as long as possible. When I see color on half the fruit and the fruit is also showing sap beads and/or dark lenticils, I know I can pick the fruit and it will fully ripen and have high Brix.

Thank you last year I only had one fruit and half of the fruit was rotten from the cracks and the other was still good.

My venus mangos on my tree are getting these weird cracks and I'm not sure what it is. Does anyone know what this is? What i can do to stop it from continuing? Thank you all!

Thanks for the advice. It's been so hard to find atemoya to add to my collection. I have two geffner and had a lisa but it one day just died on me. Want to add more variety but there seems to be a shortage in the area...

So three months ago while my dogs were running around the yard. One was acting a fool and ran into my Geffner atemoya tree snapping it in half. After crying for a couple minutes :'( , I ran inside to try and save it. All I could find was duct tape so I wrapped it on there tight and hoped for the best. The tree didnt skip a beat and held its leaves. Now after this cooler weather. The majority of the leaves dropped and is now sprouting new leaves. My question is, when should I attempt to remove the tape from the reattached area. It was a clean snap by the way. HELP POR FAVOR!  8)

Thank you for the replys, nice mango tree! I have four mango trees (coconut cream, pickering, cogshall, and an unknown mango species that was on the property when I bought it). The unknown variety is super sweet and fiberless and is a large shaped almost like a ball. So besides the large tree I have flowering nothing has bloomed yet except now the pickering and even before the large tree.

First off, I'm new here so hey yall!!! I live in Hobe Sound FL and I grow a good handful of fruit of the tropics. Anyways I have one of my mangos the pickering flowering. I just got it 3 months ago and in December! Do I just take them off or let it be and see what happens. It's a healthy tree that was in a 3 gallon so any advice would be great thanks!
