Exciting Raul!! I believe you can find what the guy mentioned and some other strange/wonderful species. Another hope is that they can thrive in lowlands :D

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Any information on soncoya???
« on: November 04, 2017, 09:13:51 PM »
Thanks for the post.  At first I thought it was not a good fruit because of the review by prince on the search.  But after reading Raul post it made me more interested in growing soncoya since it smell like durian.

Nice, I did either!

Wow plentiful of flowers :o, even if only a portion of those flowers bear fruits, there will be hundreds.

A. sericicarpus is a giant so if you do not have lots of space, A. sarawakensis may suit better.

Maybe infected by "Elsinoe fawcettii" or "Neoscytalidium dimidiatum". Using copper-based insecticide (Coper Hydroxit, Copper Oxychloride or Mancozeb 80%) may help cure both.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: 4 seasons longan
« on: September 30, 2017, 09:38:30 PM »
Anyone with knowledge of nhn "bốn ma" (four-season longan)? Supposedly it flowers and fruits year round. I found this on face book.

May I ask if you're able to provide more info regarding that facebook link?

In Vietnam longan is cultivated very widely thus there are many trees produce fruits off-season, all year round hence the local name "nhn bốn ma". Those fruits can be sold with higher price. I believe it is just normal longan (Dimocarpus longan).

I knew the question about germination would come up sooner or later , so, just for fun , I soaked some of my own ( white pulp ) in about 300 pm Ga3 for 24 hours . Planted them on 9/17/17 germinated yesterday 9/29/17 ......That's 12 days guys ....no BS....

Nice and just about time, thanks Luc!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Yellow fleshed Rambutan?
« on: September 30, 2017, 12:56:20 PM »
Have you actually seen these before in person?  Have you tried them?  Or are you just going off of the article?

Tried once before but not much enough to get drunk. It was very sour. People eat it with a special type of salt to reduce its sour and increase the taste.

Its season was only in May and June. Maybe next year I can find some and post here.

It's real and a jungle Rambutan species which is not cultivated. The link also says people will get drunk if eat too much, very much similar to Marula.
Unfortunately it seems out of season.
