It's this thing. This happens on my parents' place not mine. What'd be your solution? I think Tengard SRF would take care of it. My dad wants to spray it with vinegar or something organic which I think it will not work.

That's what I figured too.  Dang it, my freaking father in-law. I told him to tip the plant early. He waited until the last minute to do it. 

What should I do to it in June? I am not home but I could get my dad to fix it.

sadly the new growth on mango is actually blooms. dont do anything until late June. or you will get more blooms.

Dwarf cashew is still big, roughly 20 feet in height. Most of the cashew trees I ever saw was about the same size of an apple tree.

Good news. My dad just reported that one of the illama seeds germinated. Illama really tests my patience.

Magnolia Gardens Nursery?

We have had good success with Champa Nursery in El Monte.

My folks just stopped by Champa to look for more trees to plant on their property over the weekend. They told me that Champa has very limited amount of selections now. I also asked them to look for some mangoes like chac-anon, po pyu kalay, carabao, and Maha Chanok, but there's none.

I was in the area for other reason, had some time to kill during the day, decided to drop by Mimosa for the first time. Pretty cool to see fruiting black sapote and sapodilla in containers, give me hope.    On the other hand, I can't believe some of the asking prices I heard Champa Nursery in El Monte has healthier plants and better prices.

So basically anyone who lives in the Valley or IE is screwed beyond recognition? Between my dad and I, we have 4 Alano sapodillas in the ground right now. Every nursery owners we talked to all said that we would have no problem fruiting sapodillas in southern California. I am trying to plant more, but if this is the case, I will look for something else.

Thanks for the info guys, if Alano blooms year round would that mean it would fruit all year round? Sorry I’m a bit confused   

not necessarily Alex. I’m in SoCal so it takes a long time for the fruits to size up and most of the bloom dry up in winter.....it could be posible in Miami. Here in SoCal  it fruits in the mildest areas so if you live in The Valley or inland empire  it may be years or you may never see fruits. I’m looking into introducing several exclusively winter varieties from the Yucatán we will have to wait and see.

I also have one Alano sapodilla in the ground now.  Hopefully it'll be productive in a few years.
