Not sure it is the same, but, pomegranates split from uneven watering.

Mine all croaked in AZ they day it hit 100.  I am not sure if that was the sole cause or not.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Best Squirrel Dog recommendations

Blue heeler/Australian cattle dog.  Mine has killed a roof rat.
They are exceptionally loyal and intelligent.   They love having a job to do.  If you train to get a squirrel, they will do that job with utmost passion.
They are very athletic, fast, agile.  I would imagine one of few breeds that could outmaneuver a squirrel.
I absolutely adore this breed.  Only thing about them, if you want them to get along with other pets and young kids, they have to be introduced to them as a puppy.

Or jocote, as my wife calls it.  Red variety.  Might be spondias purpura.   Looking for a small tree but with a healthy root system.

Bonsai, because when he started up his business, he tried his best to take my one friend's business out, then he tried to destroy my other friends farming business online, then he followed me on Facebook and threatened my life and to follow my wife and kids to work, school.  Started to go onto my computer and posted pictures of me(nothing bad, but never knew how he got them).  He I recently trying to ruin another friend's business by posting really bad reviews online that are made up.
Every Facebook account that he starts fractures in half with half the people hating him and the others loving him like Charles Manson followers.

Thanks for input.
To say Shamus is an expert on tropical fruit trees is like saying islet at Marriott hotel last night and now I am qualified for brain surgery.  The only thing he does is find someone else's post online, copy it verbatim and claim it as his own.  Oh, and the other thing he does well is qualify as being one of the most miserable, hateful persons on the planet.

Does anyone in the states grow green sapote?  I would to try, but I live in phoenix metro.  I know it is a high elevation plant, not sure if it could take our heat or handle our 28 degrees maybe one or 2 nights a year.
Would test it myself, but they are expensive.

I think I would do mostly 300 different varieties.   I think one tree would enough for me to have my fill.  And after that, I would probably go for more rare and heirloom varieties.
But that's me, but no right or wrong answer here, but interesting to think about.

Mid pride is fantastic.  I would also recommend tropic snow.  An extremely productive and delicious white peach.

Has anyone on here tried or is growing a Jackson grapefruit?   Saw one for sale and the flavor profile sounded interesting.  But, thought I would ask since most sellers make their fruit sound incredible.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Dwarf mango
« on: February 11, 2021, 12:24:11 AM »
Ok, I had a dwarf mango I ordered from Logee's.  It was doing great and had started to bloom.  I had the tree at my mother's because I don't have a window with sunlight.
Well, unbeknownst to me, she put that pot inside a sealed pot and the leaves started to droop.   So, the more they drooped, the more she watered.  By the time she thought it was a good time for me to look at, she had watered it so much that she probably could have drowned aquatic plants.
So, I am in the market again for another dwarf mango.
Looking for suggestions on a new dwarf
1. Want productivity
2. Want good flavor.
Will more than likely keep it in a pot.
Looking for recommendations on variety, on places to purchase online or if anyone on here has one for sale.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Should I let this mango fruit
« on: February 04, 2021, 10:19:28 PM »
That was my thinking.  Also, I have a townhouse, my yard is tiny.  In summer, it gets a lot of sun.  In winter, it is shaded.

It should have plenty of water.  It is facing north.  I cannot plant anything facing south, as that is my front lawn and HOA will not allow a mango to be planted.
Soul isn't the best, that area used to be 100% concrete patio that i busted out.  Soil is heavy clay and more than likely alkaline, like the rest of Phoenix metro.

This is my cotton candy mango tree in Scottsdale,  AZ.  Been in ground 3 full years.  I have not let it bloom, as it was not that large when I purchased it.  Is it large enough to let it fruit this year, or wait?

Citrus General Discussion / Best rootstock for phoenix
« on: January 13, 2021, 01:05:19 AM »
I have been thinking of grafting different citrus varieties.  Have gotten some seeds and plan on mulitigrafting.
Question, does anyone know what is the best dwarfing rootstock for Phoenix,  AZ?  Obviously we have drought, but anything I plant will be watered.  We have very tough clay, alkaline soil.

Citrus General Discussion / How to control thrips
« on: December 31, 2020, 01:07:18 AM »
They are kind of out of control with my citrus.  And, they seem to go back and forth with my rose bushes,  and that irritates me even more.  I heard you cannot really get rid of them forever, but, I would like a plan to more or less keep it under control.
