Cherimoya Inarching Grafting?
« on: May 21, 2012, 11:10:57 AM »
I recently sprouted successfully Cherimoya seeds from my best tasting fruit from my garden. I was planning to have 4 root stocks grow together in a large pot, and at some point do inarch graft of all four, forming a very strong rootstock and keep the mother tree as Cherimoya seedlings do fruit quite early,

What are pro's comments on inarching 4 rootstocks into one tree?

Hey Behl, I'm no pro but I do know that Cherimoya with a single rootstock gets enormous.  I can't imagine how large a Cherimoya with 4 rootstocks will get.  Check out the large cherimoya trees at Exotica if you want to see how large a single rootstock Cherimoya can get.  By innarching multiple varieties together, you may have better cold/disease resistance but I'm only guessing.  You may get better cold tolerance if one of those varieties you innarch is Selma.  I can't see much benefit of innarching multiple Cherimoyas together since they grow so fast and bear fruit so readily.

Simo., in that case i would need some seeds for another variety. Even Ilama red seeds would do it. I have cherimoya seeds for exchange.

Comeon Annoa eathers, save those damn seeds,  :o
