Coffea arabica in Florida
« on: June 04, 2015, 09:19:30 PM »
Does anyone grow this? I saw 13 foot tall specimen outside at Selby gardens in Sarasota today in the edible section. I was quite surprised, because I didn't think they could tolerate our summer heat or winter cold (the garden is in zone 10a). The tree looked extremely healthy but didn't appear to have any fruit on it (though I don't know what season they typically hold fruit). There was a smaller one that was about 6 feet tall in the same area as well. Has anyone else had success with this plant in Florida?

Yup, I have 8 or 9 of them, 5 giving fruit for two years and I've been making coffee. I have some in an understory of shade, a few in full sun all seem to do well in terms of growth.
