First taste of Jaboticaba!
« on: March 13, 2017, 02:55:00 PM »
Dear friends, I had the opportunity to taste a jaboticaba fruit on Saturday due to the graciousness of 'mangobaby'. When I posted on the Buy,sell section for jaboticaba fruits, 'mangobaby' invited me to his house to taste the 'Hybrid Red jaboticaba fruits on his tree. It is one of the best fruits I have eaten!!! I cannot wait for my 18 month old plants to fruit.

Be patient, my big Sabara is in the ground nearly 6 years and this is the first really nice crop I got. That said, my smaller Jabos I have no expectations, I just will wait.

I've heard they taste like a vanilla grape.  True?  Quite a few folks in Texas are growing and fruiting them.

They definitely have a creaminess to the perfectly ripe ones. I think they taste the best when they get wrinkly. Definitely one of my favorite fruit trees.

Where can I purchase some of this fruits to try it? If it's good to me, I'd like to plant this tree... :)
