I have a couple of 2-year- old seedlings in SoFl, it doesn't notice temperatures in the 50's and even keep growing, they have tolerated mid-40's without only minor leaf burn. can't tell lower than that. If I had to guess, probably ok for a few hours below 40 but definitively not a few days IMO, not IME.

Might be doable in greenhouse in norther and central Florida, and outdoors in southern Florida.

They are mostly grown lowland PNG and can fruit at a small size.I saw a 2m tree with fruit.The PNG community here grows them sometimes as they do buk buk,firetruck pandanus and a few other favoured New Guinean species.

Apparently, there is huge variation in cut nut.  Supposedly, there are clones that only get about 2 m tall (but have a poor yield) -- at least in Solomon Islands & Vanuatu, I assume that these forms also occur in PNG.  I posted a couple of docs recently that deals with this.

I suspect if you are growing this in FL, you are on borrowed time.

Yes, mine started fruiting even smaller, at 4-5 feet tall. Heavy bearing starts when they are older though.

Got my seeds today , a 6 months germination time was mentioned ...

The way things are going now , two 7.1 quakes in less than a month in Mexico , powerful hurricanes one after another , not even wanna mention the political situation , N. Korea etc....I will still plant the seeds that is if Nibiru doesn't wipe us out on September 23 2017...lol...

I purchased three Cut Nut seeds from Malaysia in July. 2 seeds arrived sprouted (only several millimeters from their shells) after 1 week in transit. The other one sprouted 1 week after that.

I didn't think they would sprouted that fast. Maybe they were stored/sowed some time before being shipped.

Don't remember that. I ate my cut nuts raw and they are delicious that way. Maybe you confused with another type of nut?

My seeds were very fresh and germinated within 2-4 weeks. I can't tell if 6 months is reasonable for germination, but seems way long for these seeds. F.
