E.stipitata
« on: June 20, 2017, 10:53:46 PM »
My 30 month old E.stipitata flowered and set one fruit. The fruit is 2.5 inches  and two days ago it turned yellow and dropped. The fruit has a very nice fruity smell, but is too sour to eat. Are all E.stipitata fruits inedible?

They can be good mixed into a shake with other fruits that are sweet, like mango or banana. Otherwise, yes, they are very sour. Apparently there are some sweeter cultivars that can be eaten out of hand, but still sour. I like the smell but no a huge fan of the taste.

Araza is a sour fruit, like many, that are generally used sweetened.  Like making lemonade you sweeten a araza drink.  Excellent jams and syrup can be make with araza as well as using in cakes, etc.

Anyone try to eat them with a miracle fruit? Just curious. Seems like something Adam would do. Chris

They're very good with miracle fruit, an excellent way to show off miracle fruit.
When we make a juice drink we discard the skin but in making jam use it for the high pectin content it has.
