When is miracle fruit ready?
« on: June 19, 2018, 12:39:53 AM »
Hi,

Super excited to finally see the results of my labor, after who knows how many years. They're still hard, how do I tell when they're ready?
Thanks,

It's ready to go! Enjoy. Try it with a variety of foods to see the difference. Chris

Thanks Chris,
Do I chew the whole thing, skin too? Except the seed of course.

The red ones are ripe .Just suck on the flesh and skin and spit the seed out and
then suck on a lemon or something sour and you will notice how it has affected
your taste buds

Have fun!  Lemons and limes are awesome after eating a miracle berry.  Drinking beer or wine afterwards is no bueno.  I always toss the seeds into a small pot of soil or back into the parent plant's pot, see what comes up.  They take awhile to germinate - at least it appears that way.  The seeds spend a good bit of time sending down a tap root before pushing anything above the soil.

Yeah, suck on them (scant flesh) and spit out the seed. I gave some to a co-worker who couldn't stand Granny Smith apples because of the sourness. She ate a berry and then the the apple and she was in shock...she said they tasted like a caramel apple! She proceeded to wolf down the entire apple.  Chris

Very interesting experience, let my son try it first, he couldn't believe how sweet the lime tasted. The not-so-sweet orange juice became honey sweet, Lol. Got 3 more fruits off the tree this morning, will let my wife try.
Thanks,

My daughter is a downright strawberry aficionado and when the strawberries lack sweetness I go out and get some miracle berries to "sweeten" them up. Chris
