But where is a picture before you put them outdoor?

I also suspect the absence of pollinators as an explanation for the absence of seeds. But strangely enough the nearby regular poncirus is giving always the fruits cracking from seeds.
What is a spectacular shrub to the left of  your FD. Some kind of Rhaphiolepsis?

Jim_VH,  I also have one FD plant growing similarly upright.
Its taste is much better than that of a common poncirus, but fruits are much smaller. It also has  not more than 10  seeds per fruit, in seasons with cold spring they are mostly seedless.

Has somebody grown Poncirus+ seedlings to maturity?
As far as I know nobody tried this.
In the same region (South Cost of Crimea) one friend of mine has found another 'edible' clone that people growing it call 'bergamote' and use to flavour tea.
I also believe that high summer heat and harvest of fully ripened fruits greatly influence poncirus taste.

Yes, it was a N1tri seed from open pollination.

I read the original article. The curative effect is astonishing.

In a strict sense this Conestoga population should not be called F2, since it was produced from seeds of open pollinated flowers of C35 citrange.
We probably will never know what kind of other citruses were flowering nearby.

It is actually a presenter who calls it grapefruit. She says that it looks like a mandarin but much more acid.
Garden stuff member says that they have two mature trees but working on its propagation, since it can be grown in orchards along South coast of Crimea and probably also in Sevastopol.

285
This tree was planted by my friend from Kiev , he was posting as Forward  on the old forum.
He got the seeds directly from eyeckr. He still is taking care of this site (USDA zone 8B), some other hardy citruses like Changsha and Taiwanica planted by him are now mature trees giving abundant harvests.
The lady who talks about grapefruit has nothing to do with these trees, for her probably all that is not orange is a grapefruit ;D

This trait can be specific for poncirus, arising under inbreeding  growth depression.

Interesting, so this trait is either simply recessive or polygenic.
It could be worth to create a tetraploid form of precocious poncirus. With some luck its triploid progeny could still be precocious.

Hardyvermont, very interesting, what kind of cross have you made? With citrus or another poncirus? Are you sure to produce hybrid zygotes?

It seems there are at least two other cases of precocious poncirus arising spontaneously.
Indian strain   and Japanese one.
In the latter case it was produced by inbred selfing and  a conclusion was that
"the findings suggest that the precocious flowering is controlled by recessive genes present heterozygously in normal trifoliate orange".

It does not appear that the Precocious Poncirus when used as a male causes the offspring to bloom as early as the parent.
Why do you think so? Some experience?
In the case of Chinese  precocious strain the trait was not heriditable at all, probably too many genes involved.

Last spring I pollinated 11 castrated flowers of FD by pollen of this "1year precocious Poncirus", it gave 2 fruits with 14 seeds in total. 5 seeds gave two seedlings each, 7 were monoembryonic.
All seedlings except one have crooked thorns, some are rather dwarf. The one without contorted stem is the strongest, for the moment it is around 10 cm high. My self pollinated FD usually have a very high percent of contorted seedlings.
I also pollinated a dozen of 5star citrumelo flowers with the same pollen; 3 fruits were formed with 22 seeds  in total, I have now all 22 germinated.
Probably in the autumn we shall know if this precocious trait has a simple mode of inheritance or not.

Those were the seeds from open pollinated N1tri. Nearby I have 5star, Morton and Ichangquat. Castrated and isolated flowers of N1tri gave seedless fruits.

I named it like this because the only thing I know, that it was used as a rootstock by B.Voss.
Like Mikkel  showed above there is no "regular" PT, there is a huge variability.

For me  it has a sun/heat damage.

1282 is a poncirus hybrid with Cleopatra that is an exceedingly sour unpalatable mandarin.
I guess that Spanish citrandarin Forner-Alcaide 5 of the same origin is also mainly zygotic.

I do not have Taitri, but 5star was able to flower after the winters when he lost his leaves due to the wind and cold.
