Howdy all,
Can any of you Xie Shan growers out there tell me what the tree's natural growth habit is?
Thanks, Steve H

I got mine from Harris 4 years ago, it is growing in a 15 gl container. It has produce 2 yields so far. It is still 4 feet tall. It fruit every other year. With thinning you might get fruit every year. Last year it produces very light, like only 6. It might be stunted by having a heavy yield two summers ago. My other one is in bloom now and it is looking good.

Petals from the Past had them available at the store, did not see them online. If you could call you migjht be able to order them that way and have it shipped. They are on flying dragon which is a good cold hardy dwarfimg rootstock. Like all satsumas, they have a weeping habit.

Mine is grafted to an Omari. Seems to have a weeping growth habit.

Do you mean an Owari satsuma ? Your Owari is grafted to some other root stock I’d think. The Xie Shan could certainly be grafted or budded to an Owari satsuma. Owari is the satsuma grown more than any other or so I’ve always heard.

Thanks for sharing your experience folks. I figured it would be a weeper but I wanted to be sure. Now I know where I'll plant ìt in my greenhouse. Steve H

The owari is semi-weeping and my 3 year old Xie Shan grafted to this owari grows the same although it wants to be some what more upright than the owari.
