Noob Here.... Sure you all know the forum noob by now...I pester Jf, Cookie Monster, and Gary on a regular basis.. You mentioned LZ has an upright growing habbit... Does that mean it mean it will grow large in height verse being widspread... I've been told LZ can be maintained to a certain width with training....Was just wondering how wide do you think this tree will get naturally 15 ft? 20ft? 25ft? etc

I just hope my fruit trees dont run into shade issues which I think shouldnt be an issue with the spacing i have set aside....My Japanese Maples, jus the opposite are going to love this shade. I am however a little worried about my neigbors shade tree they have growing along the fenceline that hasn't reached maturity... Ether I will start pruning/chopping away, or we will need to strike a deal so i can start doing the same thing.... except putting something that can benefit both us with fruit and a little shade.

I had a bad dream last night the Governor made a statewide broadcast telling all California Residents that we are on a strict Water Lockdown. people were getting arrested for washing their cars....

How big do these trees get....Cookie Monster has convinced me to drop a Mango off 5 Mango tree planting list...But I think I need to hit the market for a cherimoya and try it first...It might not be my thing...

How does that Saturn and Red Barron Taste?  I have 2 8 Ft Red Barrons, and 1 5 ft Saturn in thr ground right now....The Saturn is about to break bloom already.

I purchased these 2 varieties mainly for their unique double blossom showing, plus the Fruit.... Which I strategically set on my side yard for everyone to see. Don't think I'll mind anyone stealing a few peaches ether....I here a tree alone can produce 100 pounds of fruit....which is plenty.

I would love to hear what we have growing right around the corner from me.. I wonder if he has some of Mango Professors varieties...I'm still hoping someone would give a review on his cold hardy Mangos he has produced.

I think there are varieties in the Hass family that are smaller/more compact, but SoCal people are going to have to weigh in on this.  Yes, you would be a deprived person without an avocado tree!  Zone 9, and you can grow mangos?  What area specifically?

I'm actually in zone 9b of Temecula/Murrieta....But its very Dessert here...90-100 degree summers... The winter is somewhat Mild....it hasn't dropped below 32 so far this year and that seems to be the norm... However we set the record year in 07 where it hit 24 degrees and many people lost  a lot of good trees.   I'm just hoping that was like a 100 year freeze that I wont live to see with the mango trees I plan to get.... otherwise I think I can baby the trees every Winter until mature enough to put in the ground and hopefully survive these couple hour morning dips that are borderline freezing...I'm hearing a lot of success stories... MangoFang has a Mango grove an hour North of me doing just fine...We have about 2 degree temperature difference as well.

GARY LOLLLLLLL.... I got a real good kick out of that.

I'll definately give it a shot and see if I can get something from it.

Gary I believe we get about 400-600 chill hours depending on the winter...I think that should suffice....Too bad its not enough for Honey Crisp....

I bought one 3 weeks ago at Home depot which is in Full blossom at the moment. I really wanted that honey crisp variety but we just dont get the chill hours needed so i settled for this one....Please tell me something good.

Gary you have a few of Zils Florida varieties right? Have their flavors been compromised by our lackluster climate?

hahah that incredibly rich flavor is precisely what I find irresistable about the LZ. If you think that was intense, you should try the pina colada hahahah. The first time I had a pina colada, I got a mild upset stomach due to the overwhelming sugar content. A few folks were calling the LZ 'bland' when compared to the O-2 (aka Peach Cobbler), so I can only imagine how intense the flavor is on that one. I think a lot of us mango lubbers enjoy that intense flavor.

Geez Jeff, at this point I can't image something stronger than LZ, looking forward to having my mind blown with the peach cobbler and and piņa colada, que pink Floyd's dark side of the moon. What's next prescription strength mangos....lol
