Post by: mangomanic12 on September 11, 2019, 02:43:32 PM
Please post link / video/ explanation...
I have a Dupois seedling with 4-5 shoots and a random poly seedling with 5-6 shoots in 1 gal that i want to separate this weekend but i do not want to kill the shoots.
Thanks.

Just wash the whole thing in a big bucket of water, and then without any soil it's easy to untangle the roots from each other.

I usually wait until the leaves harden up before splitting up the seedlings...... I find that losses are minimal then.......Mike

I just did this just as sapote suggests by washing away the excess soil. They came apart easily and my seedlings seem fine. A video of it would have been rather anticlimactic :)

The leaves were also already hardened so it’s possible that’s a big factor as mike rule suggests. I imagine the looseness of your soil also being a big factor.

Good luck!
