Laaz, that t-bud graft is super clean! I need to practice a lot more, as mine are pretty rough looking lol.

Let me say that I’m 99.9% sure there were no blind buds - there were none that had previously grown branches; only thorns and leaves. The budsticks were very nice :).

Millet, I have not seen any benefits from using it either. I picked up a spray bottle for $5 and figured I’d give it a try. I will not be buying any more.

The budsticks that I received were all good buds, no blind:

Simon, I have sprayed them with Superthrive, but not fertilizer - that’s a good idea! I did notice today that the Carrubaro is waking up:

I am growing one in hot and humid Georgia, but am interested in following this thread for other’s experiences :)

Thank you for the kind words, Vlad! Laaz, if you want a Femminello variety now, the CCPP has Femminello Siracusano 2KR available. I received budwood back in October and my graft is just now waking up. I’m very excited for this variety:)

Thank you all for your help and explanations! Boy, that is disappointing, as I do not know if I can obtain more of this budwood. I will see what happens with this one and try to get more for the future.

Thanks again, guys!!

Question: any recommendations on getting a graft to wake up? My Carrubaro lemon is still green and the graft has fused (grafted at the end of December/beginning of January) but showing no signs of swelling. My two other amalfi grafts should be leafing out any day now.

Note: the Carrubaro is inside a plastic container that is sitting on a heat mat.

Thanks for your time! :)

Bonsai, since you are in CA, check out the Santa Teresa lemon from Four Winds Growers. A lady on another forum did a taste test between the ST lemon, eureka, and Lisbon lemons. She found the flavor to be highly superior to the Lisbon and eureka. (Sorry, I get carried away when it comes to lemons:))

Yep! Completely different from the Bearss Lime:

Personally, I would go with the Bearss Lemon - it’s aroma is much stronger than my eureka and Meyer lemons. I have not had fruit from mine yet, but it is flowering for the first time this year. It does not tolerate cold very well nor did it do well indoors this winter (probably my fault). My eureka did phenomenal indoors and also survived a few nights in the low 30’s.

Today marks 50 days since I grafted 6 trees: 3 Carrubaro lemon and 3 Sfusato Amalfitano lemon scions. I still have 3 amalfi and 1 Carrubaro that are still green. One of the Amalfitano grafts should be pushing a new leaf out any day now. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I tried a red fleshed pomelo from the grocery store one time - it was fantastic! How long do they take to mature? I have never ordered from Briteleaf - I may have to try growing a pomelo, though I will have around 30+ trees after grafting this week. I definitely need a greenhouse living this close to Atlanta lol

TFN, I will keep my fingers crossed for you! I have a Tarocco that I acquired last spring, but topped it due to excessive pests. It is growing nicely, but it will probably be another year or two before it blooms. I look forward to hearing how the fruit tastes from GA!

I have the following on a trifoliate sour orange: Lunario, Zagara Bianca, Carrubaro, Siracusano 2KR and Sfusato Amalfitano. A citrus expert in Italy told me Seville Orange was the best rootstock for Femminello lemons. Not sure if that’s true, but I figure he would know.

Hi, I’m looking for Seville seeds and/or seedlings to use as rootstock. I’d be open to Chinotto as well if it makes a good rootstock. Thanks in advance :)
