I read somewhere (online) that they grow faster and produce fruits. Anyway, let's wait and see... 😊

I would add "select pond apple" as some "types" of pond apple continually send out vigorous suckers below the graft and cause stunted growth of the ilama.

Delayed incompatibility?

It seems to have issues grafted on both custard apple and sugar apple.  Delayed incompatibility, sudden death after a couple to few years and non-floweing/fruiting.

I bought a genova red from excalibur and this happened. I would never let the suckers get any size but the more I removed, the faster they came. It only grew to 5 - 6 ft in 5 years. The tree died when Irma brush by, snapped at the graft/sucker scar ball. I got it to fruit but the fruit would always abort before maturity.

I have a seedling planted. When I get it to fruit, I will graft on ilama seedlings. I replaced the genova red with one grafted on cherimoya. The tree has been in the ground for a year and no suckering. The union looks good.  I am not sure if there is delayed incompatibility on cherimoya.

Why I tried budding Ilama on to Custard apple is because, in our humid climate Ilama seedlings die in 2 to 5 years due to fungal attack.

Anybody tried grafting/ budding Ilama on to Mountain soursop?

150 rain days a year mostly in 4 month monsoon, 3000mm/average, rarely reached 40c or under 17c perhaps? Around 10 latitude? Should be ideal for seedlings and they should have long and productive lives starting fruiting after just 3 or 4 years. Where did you observe this short life due to humidity? Those days of 36c down to 26c at night and the air like syrup for a few months should be fine for them.

I live in Kerala, India where we have 200 days of rain in an year. In my area (coastal lowland), summer day time temperature goes up to 39c and winter night time minimum temperature will be around 22c.
People are growing Ilamas in Kerala for atleast 6-7 years and no trees have fruited yet! Majority of the plants will die within 4 years due to fungal attack during winter.

Ok 200 days and only a short dry season is a bit more than expected and if your lowest minimums rarely get down below say 21c then it may be a challenge.
You must be wetter than Cochin.https://weather-and-climate.com/average-monthly-Rainfall-Temperature-Sunshine,cochin,India
I am surprised if you are getting much winter rain but yes I know they handle Darwin's climate and also around Tully here with over 4000mm. Maybe it is the varieties or spots they are planted because I suspect your climate is ok for them still.

The fungal problem is here all over Kerala.
We have two main rain seasons. The second one (October - December) overlap with the winter (December - January).

Anyway good luck with it and I lost a sarteneja reticulata to soil fungus during the rainy season but my nearby ilamas did fine. Go figure.

I read in Forum that Ilama works well with pond apple. Pond apple is a swampy tree. The google book say that Pond apple in highland will not grow properly. It may work with pond apple but the growth can be hampered unless they planted in swamp. Generally fruit orchards in high grounds. What will happen if Ilama on pond apple are planted on high ground. Any expert ideas please

Pond-apples are not drought-hardy.  They would probably do fine in "highlands" if always well irrigated.

Pond apples are a noxious species here compromising lovely natural mixed species melaleuca swamps and even mangroves in fresher areas. The mistaken belief they would be good atemoya rootstock brought them to north Queensland. Cassowaries eat the fruit whole and flying foxes don't complain about them.

The best rootstock for Ilama in Southern California is cherimoya.
