Title: Industrial garden hoses
Post by: spaugh on June 15, 2018, 11:21:21 PM
You guys who have been through lots of garden hoses, do you have a favorite?  Anyone with big farm or grow outfit have leads on the idustrial hoses?

I have 10 apex industrial hoses.  The red no kink hose material is good but they started putting aluminum ends on them and now they get stuck to brass outlets.  Need to find some new hoses asap.  Something stout enough I can leave the water on all the time and not worry of bursting and has to be brass hardware.

Thanks

if you talking about regular garden hoses i like the craftsman black hoses.  they 're going to be harder to replace warranty since tjey dont have that many sears around anymore but I had mine for 5 years now and they look brand new

Have you considered cutting off the aluminum ends and replacing them with brass fittings?

Yeah I have new brass ends and apex is refunding the purchase price on the 4 junk "industrial" hoses.  Definitely keeping and using the hose itself with new brass ends.  But I still need a few new hoses and wont be buying those again.  I see they have really stout looking hoses at the local nurseries, should probably ask them where to buy.

I would just buy 500ft of hose and make up my own hoses if I knew where to get the good stuff.

Brad...
This is one place where you can buy nursery grade hoses:

there's a company in tampa, fl called amazon hose that makes custom hose with whatever fittings you want. i have had them make me a high power steering line before and it was quality work. it might cost a bit to send to cali, but maybe there's somewhere similar on your side of the map.

I believe I have some black Goodyear no-kink rubber hoses with brass fittings. They were pricey as hell. The only downside I've noticed that they are very heavy in larger diameters...especially filled with water and a filter. Chris

Gates was what I used when I ran a big cattle operation in Georgia. Heavy, expensive, and very reliable.    You can find Gates at your local specialty farm supply stores.

Get a hose rated for drinking water.  Hoses are notorious for containing lead.

This is something I wanted to add / ask about.  I'd like to get one that's lead free in both fittings and hose and can handle heavy use.
