How would you describe the taste Mike? I have one pretty close to flowering/fruiting hopefully .

Kinda like an orange vitamin c tablet in taste. They get heavily laden with fruit and enjoy warm weather. They look a bit like a bright orange apricot but the seeds are a bit big. You can eat the skin. like a dulcis.

Sorry OP don't mean to hijack this post, one last question for Mike; any ideas how long from seed to fruit?

ManVsFruit- It’s all good, no worries man, feel free to hijack all you want.

Thanks Mike, do you prefer dulce over imbe? And what month does imbe ripen for you?

Noticed some imbe trees today setting some fruit. They are heavy bearers.

One of my seedlings took 4 years to fruit, and another has taken 10 years for a god crop. I have a lot ripening right now on my 12 foot tree. The one that fruited fast grew and fruited at 2 feet tall kind of like a bush.

Hi Nate,

I bought several small Imbe from a place in Florida called My Garden of Delights.  You might want to check that out.  Here's the URL:

https://www.mygardenofdelights.com

Alas the website is under construction but you should still contact the owner, Murray, and ask whether he still has any seedlings available. You will want to get at least three since this species is dioecious.

The ones I got from him, all between 12" and 18" tall, arrived quickly and got planted but took forEVer to start to grow; like for eight months they simply sat and did nothing.  But now finally, suddenly, they've begun to put on sets of new leaves. I don't know why they all started to grow at the same time, but they seem happy now.

Good luck.  I hope he still has some for you.

I've got over 50 fruit trying to ripen now, but we aren't getting the heat for them to turn ripe. If you do get down to San Diego I have a few seedlings.
