Rootrot cure
« on: November 01, 2019, 06:49:02 PM »
After searching for years for a cure for root rot in papaya, I found a plant based mixture that kills the fungi and to some extend some nematodes. I guess this will work for citrus as well. It's not commercial, I grew the medicinal plants and mix it. I target mostly phytophthora and fusarium. Sure there are chemicals which work, but they remain in plants. SO i prefer something organic.
So this winter I will test on citrus.
Which citrus in your experience has the most root rot problems?

Are you talking about Chamomille tea preventing root rot and damping off disease?

I do not usually have a problem with root rot....but to answer your question I find the citrus that seems to have the most root rot ]roblems is sweet orange. Rootstock is an option that needs to be considered where root rot is a possibility. Poncirus is the least susceptible to root rot than most others. There are treatments for root rot. Most advise tbe use of copper fungicides an a drier environment for the tree. What treatment have you?

No, and not anything common or easily found in Europe.

I do have a list with all citrus prone to root rot, but mostly from lab experiments. So I was looking for some experience with container plants.
I'll give a try for sweet orange.
Copper fungicide is worst and a bjg soil contaminant. Not effective.
My mixture is not public.

You probably caught the old days when DDT was allowed and got stuck with that concept.
Now a days people want to use more organic substances, working with nature not working against the nature.

Your opinions SeaWalnut are yours alone. Perhaps you should not try to speak for everyone. I use what works for me. You use whatever you want.
