Growing persimmon in the Caribbean

This is a little off topic does anyone know if Persimmon will grow in the caribbean?
Does it need chill time? I was looking at getting 1 but growing it in warm Caribbean NE caribbean

I remember one called "Hudson" (i think), which was renamed "south FL", and it supposedly will fruit well in south FL...not sure about the caribbean...I also heard of another for south FL called "winterset"...(if I recall)....sorry I don't have those now, but I have got the "south FL" ones before from Zill.
