Hi,

I have some tissue cultured available.

2
WOW Steven! Great photos, congratulations! Thank you very much! ;D

De nada, Luis. ;)

You posted a lot of great fruit from the MBG colection, but it misses a very important one; for me the best they have! Butia capitata!
I love this fruit! Each time I go there and there are fruits on the palm trees, I sit near one of them and only stop when can't eat more... And best of all, is that no one gives a dime for it, on there, so no one bothers me, and I can eat as much as I can...

Well, if you noticed the thread was started in April, they are not in season around this time.

That banana fruit that's being eaten is not from ingens. I hear it's a new improved banana selected in Thailand.

Steven, the Lucuma's all grew and are growing well have given some away and will be planting mine into the ground soon ;) 8)

Hi Scott, elated to hear that. 8) Hope they produce larger fruits than the mother tree...this year is going to be tight, very low production, due to scarce rainfall.

7
Calostro, amigo...I don't have Cangrejo Anón.

Oh, we'll take care of that amigo😀

That would be super, muito obrigado.  :)

There are some really good tasting cultivars in El Salvador, where it's called sapotillo if I remember correctly. I have a tree that's about 6 years old and has yet to even flower. Slow growing, intolerant of high ph soil without foliar spraying.

that's strange...the trees are fruit and spice are doing well.

lol déjà vu!

hehe just read the comments....interesting fruit, Adão.

Oi como va be?
The leaves look like an anon the fruit doesn't. Look at the pix above of cangrejo's anon for reference it could be calostro or cangrejo's African pride either way it will be a great fruit

Olá Jf, tá tudo bem, e contigo?

Thanks for the id.
Tudo bem amigo
They look like calostro you are in for a treat

They look great...looking forward to taste mine.

With linguiforme we have tried it on timber pieces and the likes but it just takes right off on living trees. Must be somethin to do with the bark and catching nutrients or something. Put a piece on a tree and it will surprise you. This came from the bush in northern new south wales.

That's true with many orchids, Don. Mine are responding quite well on the cork slab...they are busy with new growths.  :) Advantage to growing on cork, instead of wood...they don't rot with the continuous watering.

Malabar Chestnut-Pachira glabra

Delvi, tamarind grows very well in Madeira, Portugal.

Flowering here starts early spring, and some times in Autumn.

Florida and California have completely different climates. Humid Subtropics vs Mediterranean type climate.

California and Madeira have a very similar climate.

you live already in a tropical paradise!

Gracias, Marcos. :) I hope some are fruiting already for you...natal plum from the same seeds that i sent, have started to flower in the orchards, hope to see fruits soon. Your plants are doing great over here.  ;)

The Blue Java Ice Cream Bananas Look Really Good, Can you please comment on the Taste, Dont know if i should keep my Matt Of BJ's In My Yard after hearing Pros/Negs Comments on the taste..

Great Looking Spread !

Ed

Ed, i'm having doubts about the ID, the immature bunches on the net don't match...mine doesn't develop the blue.  The flavor is great like a sweet apple/manzano banana...I noticed that this plant doesn't produce many suckers like Robusta, Grande Naine or Dwarf Cavendish. Very manageable plant and easy harvest.
Thanks. :)

Very nice collection.  8)

The unknown Annona looks like Annona squamosa or Annona squamosa x cherimola (Atemoia / Atemoya).

Nice nursery setup, Don. All look very healthy.

The Dockrillia linguiforme mounted on the red bottle brush tree looks absolutely gorgeous.  8) I have 3 young plants mounted on a cork slab, quite rare over here...hopefully in 10-20 years mine will look like that.  :)

Thanks for sharing!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: wilting fruit
« on: October 08, 2015, 07:23:24 AM »
Bonjour, Kal,

looks like the fruit is aborting, could be due to lack of pollination. Open the wilting fruit and see if the inside is hollow. For passion fruit to produce heavy a minimum of 2 plants is need for genetic exchange, you can increase fruit-set and size by hand pollination. Increase watering too, at least twice a week.

Never seen this problem before, Mike...maybe this variety is not adequate for your climatic situation. I reckon you should try other varieties and see if they will produce healthy bunches.

Are those Grapes that I see in the display?
Can Grapes be grown in a Tropical Climate?
Thanks for the beautiful display.

Durai
Thanks, Durai.
Yes, they are grapes for wine...very,very sweet.
The problem with growing grapes in the tropics is the rust pathogen that develops on the leaves with the excess moisture and humidity..maybe table grapes will fair better in these conditions...worth giving a try and see what works for you.

Good to see you back. Truly you have been gone a long time. I was wondering where you were, because my guava is fruiting, and we discussed that ages ago.
Thanks Tropicaliste. Happy to hear your guava is fruiting, congrats. :)

Very fine assortment, I am envious of your fruit growing success!

Thanks Goosteen. :)
