humilis is also called achacha and has slimmer leaves than most Garcinia with the new growth being beige in color whereas gardneriana is also called lemondrop
and seedlings look a lot like brasilliensns and have wider shorter leaves with the new growth being dark red or maroon in color

Would like to see a photo of the red chempedak because when someone says red chempedak or jackfruit
they mean orange

MikeT owns the original tree and it is in fruit now and I think anybody who offers seeds besides him or me wont
be offering genuine AXP as they can only come from his tree

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Illama germination
« on: August 03, 2021, 12:13:36 AM »
I sat 100 illama seeds in a bag with dry vermiculite on my desk for 5 months and only put them in GA3
10 days ago at 800ppm for 18hours then bagged them with moist vermiculite on a heat mat at about
30 degrees celcius and they all germinated in 5 to 9 days. This is not a fluke as I had the same
result last year using this method

Nice product but you'd have to really like Durian at AUD $45 per pack

Giant Prainiana is certainly a contender

I've noticed that Lucs garcinia trees can have male and female flowers at the same time and the ratio of male to female flowers can vary
from season to season and I've seen Russell Sweet Garcinia do the same

Have you had any success grafting Luc's? I'm waiting on two imbe plants to be delivered that I'm planning to graft my Luc's onto in the next week or two.

Have gradted lots of mature Lucs and they usually flower in sinc with the parent tree from
what I have noticed but I dont think they will be compatible with imbe. You will need a
South American garcinia for rootstock

Interestin info stevo,  you think achacha would work well as a rootstock? Or do you have a rootstock of choice?

,William

Achacha does work but I prefer to use brasilliensis

I grafted spme of Mike's Red Prawn .Limberlost .Penang 88 etc last year and and the year before and had a good deal
of success and sold those but there is only a limited market for grafted Durian so I've moved on to bigger and
better things such as grafting Lucs and Russell sweet Garcinia ,various jaboticaba and marcotting maprang longkong illama
and other exotic riches

I learned here that jaboticaba love to have their feet wet. So I have many seedlings in different pots inside a Shallow container with 2 cm of water. And they look happy

Not all jabs love wet feet. Some wont grow roots into the water from the tray .I take note when they need repotting

Have just finished picking my Erdon Lee and seedless Sanlinsue. The 2 seedless varieties in Australia are Sanlinsue and Suelinsan. The names are derivatives of the growers daughters names.  He is a friend and neighbour. The name Sansuelin is not a variety. Of note have also picked fruit from a seedling of Erdon Lee the last couple of years.  The tree is about 7-8 years old. Very difference if any in size or taste from the parent Erdon Lee.

This guy must be telling lies as he calls one of his seedless varieties Sansulin

Closer to red but no cigar still. While orange are usually better some of the best are still yellow like J33, J31,J36 and a few others. I wonder if India has quality lines that haven't been circulated yet unlike Malaysia which most people think has the best.
.
India has hundreds of varieties .There must be some good ones amongst them

These are a couple of random Erdon Lee fruit from a crop a few years ago. They actually get a lot bigger
