Tropical Fruit Discussion / Pineapple growing vertically?
« on: July 19, 2023, 03:24:59 PM »
I’ve been having an ongoing issue with one of my pineapple plants, it keeps only growing vertically, and every time I repot it it just keeps growing upwards. It’s gotten to the point where it’s in my biggest pot and has to be leaned against a fence or it will fall over lmao any ideas what I can do other than digging a giant hole in the ground and tossing it in there? Would cutting the stalk and replanting that to shorten the length be possible without killing it?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Ants disrupting pineapple roots
« on: September 07, 2019, 03:56:37 PM »
I have been having a bit of an ant problem this past year. Ants have been colonizing the lower leaves of the plants, as well as directly under the stalk, to the point where they are disturbing the root integrity and causing the plants to fall over. These make the 3rd and 4th plants this has happened to so far this year it every time i end up having to remove multiple rows of leaves and replant. Bi-weekly neem oil applications hasn't seemed to have helped. Anyone else experience this before and can give some advice?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Pineapple plant falling over?
« on: June 09, 2019, 02:03:45 AM »
Hello all, I am having a slight problem with one of my bigger pineapple plants. The plant itself won't stay upright. I went out to check on them today and it was literally sideways in the pot. I wiggled it a little bit and found It will also lean to the other side it if it push it over, yet the roots are still holding strong enough to prevent it from getting pulled out. Any suggestions? Maybe staking it up or having it lean on another plant? I left it leaning against the fence for now as I had to go to work

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Pineapple disease?
« on: December 17, 2018, 01:09:38 PM »
I've been trying to identify and treat this condition on a few of my pineapples to no avail. I initially thought it was leaf spot so I sprayed with neem oil and cut off all the infected areas but seeming new areas keep appearing every few days and I'd hate to cut all the leaves off my biggest plant. Any advice?
