What's going on with this pineapple?

There appear to be multiple buds, do I get rid of the smaller ones and just leave the largest one? Is this normal growth?

Hey NewGen, those are called slips and they are normal when pineapples are fruiting. If you have a new growth from the bottom of the plant then they are called suckers. If you leave the slips on for a bit, once they get a bit larger, then you can twist them off and start new pineapples with them and they (I believe) fruit quicker than a top or a sucker. Looks like you just have a bunch of ratoons. I'm new to growing Pineapples but I believe I read you can remove some or all of them in order to focus energy on the fruit. If you want more plants, perhaps thin some of the Ratoon out, leaving only a few larger daughter plants.
