Banana, kukui and eggfruit - oh rats!
« on: February 04, 2019, 05:16:39 PM »
Yay! Not only are my yummy bananas coming along beautifully, but I just noticed this morning that my kukui tree is blooming for the first time!
Do I need to hand pollinate or anything?  I only have the one. Hopefully they are self-fertile...

Also, I broke one of my cardinal rules and did NOT climb the ladder and check the canopy before pruning, and cut all the buds off my canistel when I pruned! Rats!
I established the "climb before pruning" rule when I accidentally pruned all my cinnamon flowers off a few years ago.  I KNEW it, I KNEW it, but was just too lazy to drag the ladder into the greenhouse to check.  Serves me right.  Hopefully my eggfruit forgives me at some point!

Happy fruiting!
Carolyn
