A nice alternative that is more cold hardy is Chilean Guava. The variegated "Flambeau" variety tastes very similar (interior, not the skin), at least in my garden.
I have grafted Cheena Chempejack and it has been smaller than any Jackfruits I have. Very easy to open and productive.
