I love these type of loquats, for some reason half the people in my neighborhood have loquat trees. There is over a 100 fully loaded trees and nobody eats them, But i cant eat more than half a tree every year,.

If anyone needs bulk quantity of seeds let me know. Guarantee fresh

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Bertholletia excelsa, Brazil nut
« on: February 11, 2014, 04:41:46 AM »
Ive been trying to germinate fresh nuts from brazil for over a year now, any special tips or anything i should know about germinating/propagation.

Thats a good idea in the picture nullzero. I have the heat lights and a room heater keeping it at 80f with humidity at about 70 percent during the day and almost 100 percent at night simulating florida natural humidity levels and temps, I also water it with rain water heated by the sun. The fox farm light warrior seed starter mix has all the microbes and mycelium with humic acid so thats about as much as you can do. Thanks everyone for the tips, ill keep you posted on the turn out.

959
The way i germinated my cherimoya was by soaking them for 4 days and the seeds that sank to the bottle all germinated. I also put them in Fox Farm ocean forest soil which just about guarantees germination and a good start, but regular potting soil will work too, just not as good :).

960
Thank you for the info, Good to know.  Ill keep everyone posted on how they turn out

Did research on all the seeds and how to germinate/propagate them, I read some are better as a cutting and some of the seeds dont fruit, figured id give it a try. just wondering if any one has any experience tips. I will be using Fox Farm light warrior grow medium mix with some Fox Farm Ocean forest soil.

Hey oscar,

Do you have any amazon tree grape seeds.

JP

Thanks for that info oscar, definitely reassured.  I read that at grew in high altitudes but couldn't find anything on the cold tolerance, but figured it had to be able to withstand some form of frost. Im curious to know how much sun they can withstand when they get older, Ive read its a shade tree so i keep it out of direct sunlight. Any experience with this awesome tree.

I filled a 5 foot deep hole in with fruit compost, mushroom compost, cow manure, leaves, a couple oak logs, peat moss, and a lot of azomite water. Kept it all warm by tarping in the front yard and using a basic room heater, stayed above 55 always, and on cold nights kept it at 65 with heat lamps. Good luck with your garcinias simon, I just recently received a achachairu seedling so hopefully we'll both be having fruit in about ten years.

966
After 10 years of trying I just went all out to keep them warm.

This is the 2 1000 finger bananas, I also have the ice cream, orinoco, saba, grain nain, dwarf red, manzano, and raja puri.

IM GOING BANANAS HERE

Heres some cool pics

Anyone know of a source for Trichopus Zeylanicus (arogyappacha) seeds or plant, Its a rare herb from india around the foothills of the Himalayan mountains. Known from the famous indian ayurvedic formula JEEVANI.

some info on it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichopus_zeylanicus

968
Just wondering can they get damaged if the seeds are left in 40f degrees for a couple hours in the pot, forgot them outside almost the whole night.

969
Thank you for the info. Im sure they since the lack of sun and the lil bit of cold (nothing under 65f) their subjected to. I was starting to wonder but patience always pays off in this case, any day now hopefully.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Another cold warning
« on: January 17, 2014, 03:01:19 AM »
They say its 33.8 right now on wunderground.com and 38 on weather.com, but i just went outside it feels like a lot of heat is coming off the ground so it doesnt really feel that cold. The thermometer with all my tropicals is reading 83 on one side and 76 on the other so keeping pretty warm here either way. Put some jackfruit, camu camu, mammey sapote and random others outside in the moon away from the heat just to let them get used to the cold while their young, Going to monitor if there is any cold stress on them but so far looking good.

http://books.google.com/books?id=_ol0KGWC-f4C&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false

Awesome book (except for the rainforest mutilation) from the 1960 and parts revised from older cacao books.

Just about everything you need to know of cacao trees.
