Well it's not a seedling, but I have a small Sabara root sucker that is flowering with two more buds.

Whohohohoaa! That is awesome!  8)
If only all seedlings would behave like that....
That is incredibly cool and sort of leads me to believe that it is in reality the size of the root system that defines wether the tree is ready to flower...

Adam, your tree is still doing exceptional as well. Take good care of that one!

I got to see a couple of these smaller sized Reds fruiting at another guy's nursery.  They were going out the door while I was there and for a pretty penny!

I was like what WTF.... in my head!  I would think they would be pretty valuable for grafting, instead of just selling the seedlings.  Makes me wonder....  ;)

In a couple of weeks it will probably look like the little Christmas tree from the Charlie Brown Christmas show and going to need some propping up.

haha nice!  I've seen that happen only a few times.

I remember LycheeLuva posted a pic of his tree doing this...and once I saw a big sabara doing this in person.

You´re a lucky man Adam!
A jabo that set flowers so early and can be kept in pots, is a dream for a lot of peoples. Especilally for peoples that lives in big cities and small houses. Take care of this little tree and plant all the seeds that you got from her. It can be a pot of gold. :)
I have a few jabo trees in a area of 12 x 6 m, and sometimes they set flowers at the same time, but I never had the ideia about hybrids coming from them. But now I´ll pay attention. :) I have these trees:
jaboticaba de cabinho (in the soil, 2,30 m tall - fruits just one time a year)
hybrid jaboticaba (in a pot of 80 x 50 x 40cm, 1m tall - fruits many times a year)
white jaboticaba (in a pot of 60 x 50 x 40 cm, 2,20m tall - flowers a lot, many times, but rarelly set fruits)
grafted coroada da restinga (in a pot of 80 x 50 x 40cm, 1,20m tall - fruits two times a year)
myrciaria nana (in a pot of 50 x 40 x 30 cm, 40 cm tall - never fruited. She don´t like to much of water as the other jaboticabas)
hybrid jaboticaba (still in a plastic bag of 50 x 40 x 30 cm, 1,70 m tall - fruiting now) I bought her last week

setting fruits now!  flowers on top of flowers...looks like it might bloom all year long!!  If it takes a break, I will let the group know...but so far, it's been blooming for almost 8 month...(fruit production has been limited...but that's not unusual...the tree is still a baby)

I have a scion grafted that's pushing...I'm waiting to see how long it takes to flower...my theory is, this will be the most precocious variety, possibly fruiting within a year or less from grafting.

So is the official variety name going to be "árvore de dinheiro," or did you already have something else in mind?

check out all the fruits setting now.

more flowers coming too...

the two largest should be ripe in about a week...seems like the time from flowering to fruit is less than 30 days?

here are some recent pics!

i got a bunch of fruits off this little tree!!  the seed shape seems different than the red, and the skin seems a little thinner so far...

the bark looks very unusual too...being gnarled where the flowers form

the pics are in chronological order, from oldest to most recent:

Thanks Robert!
yes of course my friend!

but I need to observe the tree a while longer...(and graft as many as I can for my nursery to use as mother trees)

I want to confirm my theory, that this variety will flower/fruit faster than any other, from the time it was grafted.

I just grafted a small tree about 35 days ago, and it seems to be healed now...if it flowers this year, I will be more confident in marketing this variety as being super precocious.

so far, the tree grows exceptionally slow...at this rate, it could be another 2-3yrs before I can offer them to the general public for sale...

after harvesting about 20 fruits on the last crop, the tree has calmed down..but still has some activity going on!

it would be impressive if it goes a whole year without taking a break!  It would have to keep flowering until October 2016.

she's still flowering and fruiting...activity as calmed down, but has not ceased.

I'm still on track for a year of perpetual production (always having flowers or fruits).

so far, this tree grows at half the speed of the Red jaboticaba (Precoce)

and the trunk has an unusual appearance, where the bark is gnarled with enlarged nodules where the flowers form on the caulis.
