Selling: UF Best Peach Scions (or trading)
« on: February 01, 2018, 10:38:51 AM »
I recently bought a UF Best Peach from Home Depot.
It had about three tags on it all saying UF Best and one saying FLguard (rootstock)
So I'm pretty sure this is the real deal.

Anyways the cold made it drop leaves so now its time to prune.
I know I was looking for this variety for a while so I figure I should make scions available.
$3 per scion, minimum order 5.
Add for $8 shipping

No international shipping sorry.

Open to trades to PM for details

The Florida peaches do best if you prune in June after the fruiting season.
The new growth will have your peaches next season. If you prune now you
will lose your fruit. Soon the tree should flower heavy on the one year old
branches and then the tree will leaf out. The past several winters the leaves haven't
really dropped. I am starting to fertilize heavy and water 3X a week to give trees energy
for their spring bloom.

Mine flushed out and flowered a few months ago.
The little runt of a fruit fell off in January, nicely colored though. Fly damaged

The leaves fell off in the last cold front, it will probably flush out again but I'd rather prune when its dormant

Its amazing the low chill peaches do well at all, this winter has been the coldest by far the last 3 years and
I bet we don't have 100 chill hours. Without the chill they aren't even suppose to produce sweet fruit. I do usually
get the flowers in late summer or fall but I always attributed it to stress from heat. If any peaches develope they
have always been small on my trees and never amounted to anything. Then the hurricane this year added more
confusion to the trees. The one thing I can say is when the trees produce peaches they are the best I have ever eaten,
I especially like the White ones but I never tried the Florida Best. When you get fruit let us know. I do think these
trees would do better in North Florida?

What fertilizer are you using? My UF Best tree is just starting to bloom.

I specifically chose Uf best due to the low chill hours and the season.
UF literature says it's a March fruit which is especially important to me as I don't want anything competing in mango season as well as less time for fruit flies to be active.

I originally wanted ufsun but this one was newer so I figured I give this one a shot.

I'll let you know when I get a fruit.

I'm using 8-3-9 with micros

I use manures and miracle grow. The miracle grow I use as a root drench now as there are
no leaves this year. Once the trees have leaves I like to spray the 20-20-20 on the leaves.
I have allot of super worm manure and can apply every other week. I was also getting
rabbit manure last year.
