Plinia rivularis, 50 years old

This amazing tree is at Misiones, I didnt took the photos but maybe I will get some of the black (not red) fruit it produces and taste them in 1 or 2 months.

yes thanks for sharing, i have one almost 10yr old and the bark on the trunk still hasn't started to peel

i was curious to see the caulis exfoliating, thanks for finally showing me what it looks like

mine still seems to be years away from fruiting, but is about 6ft tall...seems pretty easy to grow, it survived cold weather no issues, down to 27F or so for many hours (20?)

mine doesn't have peeling bark yet....but i will have to check again..the trunk is like 3-4 inch in diameter.

Yes, there you can read and listen to José Radins, he wrote that the fruit is very good:

" Los frutos son globosos, de 1,5-2 cm. de diámetro, lisos, rojos, morados a casi negras cuando maduran, de pulpa clara, dulce y muy sabrosos."

"The fruits are globose, 1.5-2 cm. of diameter, smooth, red, purple to almost black when ripe, of clear, sweet and very tasty pulp."

It seems that I will taste some fruits by october, I hope so!

sounds like a good fruit, maybe a superior variety of P. rivularis that is not found in Brazil?
