Pug a persimmon?
« on: November 18, 2018, 01:09:22 PM »
Can I pug a persimmon tree or will it kill it?  The tree is too tall and top heavy.

I used to have a persimmon tree,  about 12 ft tall or so, that got blown off by a gusty Santa Ana wind, leaving only 1 main trunk about 4 ft tall some years ago.

The following year, they sprouted heavily and growing again quickly...

Note: correction of earlier comment.

My second tree was pruned to heavily year before last (not pugged though) and didn't produce fruit that year, but it grew back and well... I've shown you a picture. :)

I took my neighbor's seedless lotus tree down to 4 and 5 ft vertical branches and grafted giant fuyu, saijo, fuyu, and hachiya last year. Now the new growth are up to 3ft long.
