everyone here says mam-mee, which is a bit annoying. I first encountered the fruit as a lad in the south west US, so mah-may for me.
Saying mamee also heightens confusion with mamea.

muh-MAY, MAY-mee, mah-MAY, what? ( Hopefully it's MAY-mee, because of my "Call me mamey" shirt :I )

I've only heard people pronounce it mah-may here in FL. Mah-mee, is usually reserved for the Mammea americana, aka mammee apple.

In Spanish vowels (a,e,i,o,u)  are always pronounced in same say, so there is not the confusion on how to say a word, as there is in English. It should sound like english equivalent of Ma-may. But there is no pause between the ma and the may.
