guy selling this stuff on craigslist anybody ever use this stuff? what is it good for?  from what I ask him it sounds like its just kelp meal? does this stuff have a self life....guy claim it was from a vineyard that went out of business and selling it for about 150 for a 220lb drum... 100 bucks if buy in bulk....any info is greatly appreciated

'Kelp based Hydrogel (Hi water absorbent). Mineral rock form. Vineyard went out of business. Excellent water holding capacity. 50% Less watering. Improved nutrient uptake. Below the ground water retention. Use smaller containers for large container growth. Excellent for building super soil and no till. I have noticed explosive growth in my own personal federal, state and local government compliant Medical cannabis garden. E-mail me for a link to a UC Santa Barbara study going on with exopolysacchrides for arid and semi arid soil amending.'

that's what the ad states

Sounds similar to other water absorbing polymers, but since it's on Craigslist could be just shredded drywall. :-X

On second thought, the seller is saying something is kelp-based mineral rock? Those two don't even make sense. Suggest you don't waste money on this one!

This stuff remind me of crushed sea corals and seashells that you can find near the coastline.

That sound like water absorbent to be placed at root level, not much of a fertlizer. Still useful stuff in California. Look for kelp that says water soluble.
