I use rice hulls for their 18% silica.
That’s the number missing on RHA.

A good mix start with 25% perlite or pumice.
Let’s see picture of bag?

I have a couple of suggestions for you.

Remove all weeds and organic matters around the trunk.
Make a ring of rock 3-4” around trunk.
Add 2” of pebbles and sand inside the ring.
Those make it hot and dry for the pests.

Wrap the wound with foil to block sun and wind.
It speed up callusing.

Try them.

I graft cherilata and cherimoya to soursop trees to give nurse branches.
The nurse branches feed the roots when the soursop leaves all dropped.
I’m waiting for backup trees before I let the soursop defoliate.

Try it.

It depends on which shape you want.

Shorten the branches to 12” to balance the tree.
Later on the branches spread out and droop, in shape of an umbrella.
You could walk underneath.

My favorite shape is open vase with V crotch at 16”
I cut low or graft with buds at 16”

I’m using rocks around the trunk to block mulch from the trunk.
For some i’m using pots as a ring to block mulch.
Cut the pot around midway to remove the bottom and shorten the ring.

GA leaves get up to 10-12”
If your grafted tree is not growing well then the rootstock is no good.
Get rid of the rs.

It has Plant Breeder Rights to 2031 in Australia.
It doesn’t apply to the US.

Do you have any links to Paxton’s application in the US?

Overwatering kills the tip and young leaves.

Increase mulch ring to 6’.

Plug mechanical timer into smart plug.
Every hour turns off mechanical timer for 20 minutes.
It turns into 32 hours timer.
32 is divisible by 4.
This gives 8 hours cycles.

Increase time off to 30 minutes gives 9 hours cycle, and so on.

13
I see your point about timer problem now.
Alexa have delays with timers but I don’t know if it can handle your situation.

14
I’m using Amazon smart plug to power a fan.
I’m using routines in Alexa Dot to run timers.
It can turn on many times a day and set delays to turn off.

I have a mechanical timer that have push buttons for every 15 minutes.
My other mechanical timer looks similar but have pins to set on and off.
Mines only have 2 pins only turn on and off once each day.
It can do more with more pins.

Use an app on your phone to measure sun light intensity.
Measure your light set up.
Intensity above 1/2 of sun is starting point.

I have a pawpaw seedling.
The leaves burn faster than cherimoya.
I’m hiding it under an avocado tree.

Removing a ring of bark below graft is an option.
I’m playing with it to see if auxin concentration at graft speed up the graft.
Nothing to report on this option.

Around 80%
I lost 2 due to cutting off too early.
The graft unions weren’t big enough.

Little sun in my yard so cutting off after 10 weeks is early here.

I use Buddy tape on small grafts.
I add green tape over.
I use only Saran Wrap type plastic and or green tape on big grafts.

Use what ever you have and make sure the graft is air tight.

I graft in the morning when the humidity is high.
