Tropical Fruit Discussion / Passion fruit peculiarity

I noticed an unusual shape on some passion fruits that were forming a few weeks ago. Vine is a seedling but whether it is the original vine from last year (where the fruit were simply round) or a seedling from last year's crop is unknown. Additionally, both yellow and purple fruits were grown together (separate vines of course) last year. I will also nite that these naturally I curred as shown and are not the result of any plastic shaping molds.   First pic is from July 4. Second and third pics are from today. 
Has anyone seen this before? Virus maybe?

My allspice tree has fruited later than normal this year. Typically the fruit are ripe sometime in May. Oddly, it is also flowering again. Has anyone else had a similar experience this year?

Also at the Fruit & Spice Park this coming weekend is the Asian Culture Festival.

Two day event, Saturday, March 2 and Sunday March 3, 2013 10 am to 6 pm .In its 24th year, this annual festival features Asian crafts, art and exotic music and dance, highlighted by a tasty selection of authentic Far Eastern cuisine. Admission: Adults $10

This is the monthly meeting of the club at the Fruit & Spice Park.

Topic:   Propagation Tricks and Early Nursery Care for Rare Fruit Plants

I would encourage anyone in the area to attend this meeting.  Steve has been
involved with rare fruit for a long time and can probably answer most questions
about the more obscure rare fruits.

I've got a pound of the powder form.   Does anyone have experience using this stuff to clean seeds?  If so, how much powder do you use per quantity of H2O?  How long does it take to do the job?  Is it a uniform process or does it vary by species?

 A lecture on the “Exotic Fruits of Asia” will be given at the Fruit & Spice Park Auditorium on Thursday, April 19th, 2012.  The evening begins at 7:00 PM and admission is free.  Among the rainbow of luscious fruit discussed will be  Mangosteen and Durian.  Both of these fruits are difficult to grow in Florida.  Encased in a small round, purple Mangosteen is a center that looks like a peeled tangerine made of mother of pearl.  Its sweet melting pulp is consider by millions to be the best fresh fruit in the world.   Equally adored in tropical Asia is the Durian.  Referred to as the King of Fruit this spiny, cantaloupe sized fruit taste like a almond-onion custard but smells like garlic, sulfur, onions and the funkiest cheese of all time.   The cultural importance of these and other fruit will be stressed.  The lecture and images will be presented by Chris Rollins, who has been Manager of the Fruit & Spice Park for 31 years.  The program will be followed by refreshments.  Additional lectures in this new series will be announced at this time.    Please spread the word about this activity.  It’s an effort the make the Fruit & Spice more accessible to everyone.  Guests and newcomers are very welcome.

Just planted my PR breadfruit this past weekend.  So far so good.  My previous attempt a few years ago succumbed to root rot during the month of may.  Go figure.  LOL

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Garcinia lateriflora flowering

After waiting many years, my in-ground G. lateriflora is finally flowering.  I had a single flower about 4 years ago and nothing since.  Now I have dozens on both of my 12 ft all trees.  There are from seed brought in by Dr. Coronel of the Philippines.  Paulette Johnson (aka the "other" PJ) fruited them a couple of years ago in pots and was kind enough to share some with me.  The shape, color and taste of the fruit is very similar to G. hombroniana.



Flower looks similar to G. prainiana

Murahilin mentioned on Harry's farm post about purchasing a refractometer to measure sugar content.  This got me to thinkin (you're shocked, i know)... where does everyone buy their scientific instruments?  Which places have a good reputation for quality?
