Tobacco leaves can be used to overcome the attacks of insects
« on: September 04, 2014, 04:51:32 AM »
My Artocarpus hirsutus seedlings was attacked by insects, they stick to the lower leaves.
Insects are very small and yellow
The leaves appear to be tangled and wavy.
I'm soaking tobacco leaves in hot water and let it for 2 days so that water becomes cold.
Then I spray the tobacco leaf soaking water to all parts of the Artocarpus leaves.
Now all the insects is dead and leaves that grow back fresh and healthy.

I have heard of this before if you make it too strong can it burn the leaves or does it have a wide margin for error?
Maybe organically grown tobacco for my brother will be better for his ugly wake me up cough:p

Just make sure you guys dont spray it on tomatoes, I did that one year and tobacco mosaic virus seem to do a number on my tomatoes. It seem the skoal I bought at 7 eleven was the carrier.  In Africa many farmer used it to store their grains to keep out the insect. I have a neem tree, its fresh extract seem to active within the first 24 hours.  I mixed both tobacco & neem and seem to done well on the Biriba annona that seem to attract the most green scales.  ;D

This mosaic virus sounds hectic! When I was still a smoker I was told not even to ash my cigarette in any pots for fear of this virus.
Maybe growing tobacco could atract this horrible virus to my garden! Is it only solanaceae that is in danger from it?
