I need to make some room in the yard and that means the Mallika is on the chopping block. Very healthy tree, fruits well enough, but I need the room. Tree is about 8 - 9 feet tall, a few years old. Not sure if it's feasible to transplant it, but figured I'd see if anyone wants to try. It's getting the chainsaw tomorrow morning if I don't hear from anyone before then.

That's a great deal for someone. I dug up a similar sized Mallika last year when a fellow member extended the same generosity. Mango trees transplant very well this time of year.

When I've done mango tree transplants in the past, I always trim the tree way back and water it multiple times per day for the first few weeks. Never had one die, even when I couldn't keep soil around the root ball during transport.

When it comes to mango tree removal... trust the professionals. Sometimes it takes a lawyer (me) and a doctor (popnull) to surgically remove a Mallika from its in-ground spot. Hopefully it survives the transplant. Now I just need to figure out who to send my hourly invoice to.

It should be okay.  That looks like enough of the roots for the tree to survive.  Most trees are incredibly resilient.  Just give it lots of water in its new home.

13 or 14 other mango trees. We're swimming in them.

Wish I lived closer....Mallika is a Mango lovers Mango.  Not for noobs.
Blessed be the man who plants a tree knowing he will never live to enjoy it's fruit or shade.

Dr Pop needs to prune off at least 50% of leaves, transpiration is the killer. And I extend many mas mucho thanks to SM  Jeebus for help on legal issues. He is the kindly bomb!

PopNull get 'er done! And it looks like you did.
