Ya I should have looked back at my pictures first...the false mangosteen I had also had that pointy tip, sorry for the wrong ID Kaz! You should try false mangosteen though, I think you will like it.

Hey Kaz nice find, it looks like Garcinia xanthochymus (false mangosteen). I ate a couple a few years ago and if I remember correctly they looked like that, and the flavor was similar to what you’ve described. I enjoyed the fruit, some were sour and some were more balanced with good flavor.
Please save me a couple seeds 😉

Awesome find on the new Annona! :) Reminds me of the Rollinia Parviflora I’m growing, it supposedly produces small fruits as well, that look like mini Biribas, and it’s also cold tolerant, it survived many freezes this year outside unprotected, as well as a couple of hail storms.

Hey Marcos! First flowering from the sweet uvaia seeds I got from you in 2020  :) Hopefully get to try the fruit!

Hi Kevin, any tips for improved fruit set? Did yours fruit on their own after first flowering?

Marcos is a great seller and this is a beautiful Eugenia with gorgeous new reddish growth, and it flowers at under 3 feet in less than three years. Get you sum seeds!

Fruit punch was one of our favorite mangos this season. Lemon Zest, K3, and PPK were also fantastic.

Good looking out hammer! Thanks so much for posting, now I don’t have to drive 6hrs to try the fruit... Have a great 4th! ✌🏽

Landed my first one but unfortunately had ants tunneling in it. Hope some of it is salvageable.

That don’t look ready, doesn’t look like it formed right and the color is off, prob cause it wintered over...It seems when pineapples set fruit here in the fall, winter over, and then ripen in the spring, they usually aren’t very good, it seems they really need our summer heat/sun to get to their full potential. You want them flowering/setting fruit now, winter, or spring, that way it’ll ripen in the summer, the taste and quality is night and day...It’s the same with dragon fruit. Congrats on your first fruit tho!

Hey Tru how are you (sorry I like rhymes)- The S8/Sugardragon cuttings in the picture I posted are curvy because those ones were growing over our wall and high up on the trellis. When they’re on a trellis they will bend and curve once they start to grow over the top of the trellis. The ones that hang low grow pretty much straight.

I’ve also heard Voodoo Child may be the same as S8/Sugardragon as well, our Voodoo Child vines and fruit look identical to our S8’s.

My recollection is that S8 and voodoo child were part of the genetic testing project from the UCI researchers and found to be different. Flowers were a bit different as well.

Thanks for clarifying John 🤙🏽

Yes you should definitely highlight this one, it’s very good, I could eat them all day... Do you think it’s larger than other vista whites you’ve seen, or are they all like this? I’ve also noticed it’s a vigorous grower and needs to be grafted onto a strong branch.

65
Thanks Kaz means a lot coming from the loquat king! ;) There’s actually a couple really big ones on the tree not in that picture, check this one out, it’s as big or bigger than a golf ball. I’m gonna send a fruit to Abirkett2 since he bought some scions so he can taste the goodness before he grafts.
I think my original scions actually came from you.

If you have an extra tree or scion(s) please pm me. Thank you

Kaz,
I think you have something special with the white flesh seedling fruit you brought by today. Everyone has said it’s the best loquat they’ve had. Absolute perfect balance of sweet/tart, with much more sweetness than tart, and it seems like every fruit taste similar, so you’ve got nice consistency with this one. Much better/sweeter than Vista White, or any of the other whites I’ve tried. Wonderful fruit!
Btw the “Nancy” is from me, and thanks for putting together such a great list.

Good stuff
Not at $50 per seed :o I’ve heard of inflation but damn!

They look like cold damage to me.

Cold damage or fertilizer burn are my guesses.

Does anyone know what these spots on the leaves are? They started appearing about a month ago and are getting worse. Thanks for any info.

Looks like Persea mites. Are you keeping your plants under a mature tree? If so that could be the source. My avocados get them and so do the wax myrtle growing under the avocado canopies.

Thanks guys. Cold damage is definitely a possibility, seems like we’ve had more frost than ever this year, not to mention a hail and graupel storm! Crazy. I haven’t Fertilized in awhile but do sometimes pour old fish tank water on the soil after cleaning the tank so maybe too much nitrogen in there. It’s planted out in the open so not sure about the mites, there is milkweed all around it so maybe Persea mites from that, but the spots look different than the persea mite damage I’ve seen on our avocado trees. Hopefully just cold damage.

I don't particularly like them but I know lots of people who do. Pretty mild. It makes just about the best fruit bong there ever was though.

Hahahahaha touché! Guess I should have kept it then  8) ✌🏽

Taste is subjective of course but I found the flavor of babaco pretty pukey out of hand, no one in our family enjoyed it, kids didn’t like it, you may want to try one before you grow it. Tasted like a disgusting bottle of champagne, really strange....Waste of time/money for me.
