Almost Ripe-Myrciaria Phitrantha var. Otto Anderson
« on: December 09, 2015, 06:39:21 PM »
I unwrapped a few of the phitrantha fruit and they're looking good. A few more days. The grafts aren't loaded with fruit but it's off to a good start this year. I had a heck of lot more fruit on the rootstock. I'm going to let a few fruit unwrapped. I'm feeling a bit ballsy since I caught 7 squirrels in my yard but I did re-wrap the large clump in foil. I'm still suffering from bigwoosievitus.

They're on all of my trees......sabara, trunciflora, grimal, hybrid, cambuca and more.

Have no clue what they are or what they're from.

Does it start off as a small brown/orange (even pink sometimes) circle on your bark?  Then the bark dies and the wound (brown circle) keeps expanding?

I've never noticed how they formed. One day I looked and there they were.

Check out this link, it shows photos of my cherry of the rio, it had something similar.

I think it's fungal or bacterial

How old is the graft before it started fruiting?

About 2 years from graft to fruit. This is the second fruit cycle. The first fruit were eaten by squirrels. It flowered last year but no fruit set so from graft to flower took 1 year.

How old is your rootstock? I am curious since I just got some seeds started.

The rootstock is old. I bought a fruiting sabara and cut off most of the limbs..... 5 were left and these are what the scions were grafted onto.
