What is the best tasting red guava you have there? Maybe it is the famous Jalisco Red. Then you can air layer it. I have been looking for one too.

Actually I don't know much about guavas, but I also have seen that some varieties of Fruit some times are named with a City or county name and you can even find that in the same city or county... Don't know if this is the case

I wonder if we can find someone who purchased a tree from JF last year to propagate the cultivar for sale or sell some scions to everyone. Seems JF does not have anymore of these and is in the process of moving.

A lot of hero members in this forum actually have the grafted Jalisco Red. Some of them don't sell the scion not to mention grafted tree. Even if we lucky enough to get the scions, unfortunately guava is the one of the most difficult plant to graft. My friend who has been grafting for 30 years only have 20% success with guava. She prefer to do airlayer on guava and lychee plants.

It's good to know that someone has a tree.  Hopefully at some point in the future scions or propagated plants will be available. Seems like there is a demand.

Has anyone tasted the Jalisco red and Dolores guavas?  If it is that delicious and sweet and better than any other guava variety, why don't who ever has them or developed/came up with these varieties get a nursery to mass produce them, doesn't the person want to share his/her great find with the tropical fruit community or the world or leave a legacy behind after the person is gone?  How many people have tasted these varieties and can confirm these varieties were the best guavas they've ever tasted, besides the person who came up with them.

I usually prefer white flesh guava and ehhhh about the pink/red  ones.  But i tried red jalisco and that was a treat! It was perfect blend of guava/berry flavor.
