Don't believe it is either...though I don;t know what it is.Jatropha multifida have more pronounced spike pattern on the leaflets. From these photos, the leaflets do not seem to have these patterns...plus, I believe the flowers should be red is it were the J. multifida.
Fatsia japonica
All my years spent living in Tokyo (where this plant is common) and I never even thought of it being the perfect name for a sumo wrestler!!! I don't know if they have a common name. I now live in Raleigh NC and everyone just calls them Fatsia.
